Minority Diary” — A Powerful Documentary Shines at the Kolkata International Film Festival

In a world where the stories of the marginalized often disappear into silence, Minority Diary has already proven that the voices of the unseen can never truly be muted. This profound 84-minute documentary captures the struggles, pain, resilience, and unbreakable hope of four underprivileged minority communities of West Bengal.

Directed with deep sensitivity by Indranil Sarkar, the film is produced under the banner of Half Moon Entertainment. Producers Subhashish Ganguly and Jayashree Ganguly have poured their dedication and artistic vision into a documentary that feels more real than reality itself—raw, honest, and deeply human.

The visual storytelling of cinematographers Subhankar Majumdar and Jagannath Karmakar has already touched audiences. Through their lenses, the silent dignity of marginalized lives comes alive—shadowed smiles, unspoken emotions, and the quiet poetry of survival. Editors Ribhu Bhowmik and Shantanu Ghosh give the film its rhythm and flow, while Associate Director Chandrima Ray ensures that every frame reflects authenticity and empathy.

A Memorable Moment at Nandan 3

On 12th November 2025, at 5:00 p.m., Nandan 3 witnessed the powerful screening of Minority Diary under the Short and Documentary Panorama section of the 31st Kolkata International Film Festival. The presence of an engaged audience, emotional reactions, and meaningful discussions after the screening turned the day into a truly unforgettable moment for the entire team.

Following its premiere in July 2025, this festival selection was the film's first major recognition. And on the day of the screening, that recognition transformed into a resounding success—a celebration not only for the team but also for the real people whose lives inspired this documentary.

Minority Diary stands as proof that cinema is not merely entertainment—it is an awakening. A mirror held up to society, urging introspection. A diary of humanity written in light and shadows.
