Kathmandu, Nepal – August 23, 2025: ABM proudly presented the International Icon Award 2025 Nepal to MD Umar Dewan, in the hands of Hon. Abdul Khan Ji, Former Minister of Water Supply of Nepal, at the grand ceremony held at Rastriya Nachghar Auditorium, Kathmandu.
Born in the small village of Parasagadhi-04, Prasurampur, Parsa, in Nepal’s Madhesh region, MD Umar Dewan has dedicated his life to the service of humanity. Inspired by his father, a devoted social activist, he embraced the motto “Service Above Self” from an early age. Currently pursuing his MBBS at National Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Umar Dewan has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Ambassador of Nepal Health Corps - NMCTH, President of the Nepalese Medical Student Society, Vice President of a Charitable Society, and President of GAIMS Nepal. Through these roles, he has organized health camps in Dalit settlements and schools, launched awareness and digital campaigns, hosted motivational sessions, and arranged blood donation drives, cloth distributions, and community sports events like the Ward Cup Cricket.
Beyond organizational achievements, Umar Dewan has personally supported more than 100 patients unable to afford hospital discharge, assisted orphanages, celebrated meaningful events at Manavsewa centers, and initiated several community-driven projects. His efforts have been recognized in over 20 local and national media outlets, earning him respect and admiration as a true youth leader.
Today, MD Umar Dewan stands as a role model for his village, his region, and marginalized communities across Nepal, embodying compassion, leadership, and selfless service. His recognition as a Youth Icon in Social Service through the International Icon Award 2025 is a testament to his unwavering dedication.
